Quad-family Camping trip to Nauvoo!
The Staten, Lowden, Miller, and Gibby, families had a great time camping in Nauvoo. They have a wonderful state park, right near old nauvoo and just around the corner from the temple. We love Nauvoo!!! The weather was wonderful for camping!
Louisa:“Say Govunmet!”
We made a stop at the Jefferson City,Mo. Capitol building on our way to Nauvoo. It was a beautiful building. I told the kids that it was as close as they would get to seeing a castle in the US. We loved it! Thanks Levi for thinking of it.

Milestone! (spoiler alert! this post contains sensitive information regarding the “tooth fairy”)
Lincoln lost his first tooth!!! He had been wiggling it for a long time and it was soooo loose. We had been int he car for a while and when we got home I opened the car door so they could get out and Lincoln held up a tooth and said,” It’s tooth out time!” The tooth fairy left him a dollar. He’s no fool though and we don’t try to hide the fact that we ARE the tooth fairy!! He was trying his hardest to negotiate the amount that should be left under his pillow, but the tooth fairy wouldn’t budge!
Field Trip to the County Fair
The highlight of the county fair was not the incredible heat, nor was it the stinky pigs, cows and goats. The kids were mildly interested in the displays of homemade and home grown quilts, squash, flowers and pictures, etc. They longed to ride the rides that were, at the time, closed. We saved the best for last and the funnel cake was definitely the highlight. Over all though, the kids enjoyed themselves, as you can see in the following pictures.

Summer!
Mad Scientist- Monster Dance Party!!
We had a lot of different adventures over the summer. Our adventures were inspired by the backyardigans and we used our imaginations a lot this summer. One of our favorite activities was the monster party. We were mad scientists and did a bunch of icky experiments including making slime!!( that was a big hit!) The kids dressed up as monsters and we danced with the backyardigans to the “Monster Dance Party” song. Tons of fun!!!
